SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave Therapy for Soft Tissue Injury & Chronic Pain

Shockwave Therapy is an innovative, non-invasive therapy that enhances your body’s natural healing, stimulating blood flow and reducing inflammation, allowing you to recover more quickly from injury or chronic pain conditions. The affected area is treated using low-energy acoustic waves to stimulate tissue repair. Most patients experience significant improvement after the first session, although multiple treatments may be needed for optimal results.
Benefits of Shockwave Therapy:
  • Targeted treatment for injury or chronic pain in soft tissues, joints, bones, and tendons.
  • Non-invasive procedure, with no surgery or anesthesia required.
  • Drug-free - no medications necessary.
  • Minimal recovery time and few side effects.
Shockwave therapy is highly effective for treating various conditions, including:
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer’s elbow

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy was developed in Europe in the 1980’s and gained popularity in 1990’s for destroying kidney stones without surgery. It has been modified since then for applications in soft tissues.
A shockwave of energy is produced when a small metal "bullet" strikes an oscillator inside the device. The energy wave is similar to ultrasound but it does not heat up tissues or other structures. Each oscillator tip produces a unique shockwave depending on the material the oscillator is made of like steel, titanium, plastic or ceramic, so the intensity of the shockwave can be tailored to safely and effectively treat specific soft tissues.
Benefits of Shockwave Therapy include:
  • More rapid healing and better quality tissue and cell growth
  • Increased circulation in areas that have poor blood flow
  • Enhanced nutrient and enzyme delivery
  • Stem cell homing and activation/stimulation
  • Improved blood vessel function
  • Release of tight muscles and fascia
